Terms of use

The short version

Deckhand is a tool for organising a card collection you already own and finding decks you can build from it. Use it for that. Your data is yours and you can take it out or delete it at any time. The service is provided as it is, and it may change or stop.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 to have an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. An account is for one person; do not share it.
• During the closed beta, sign-up is by invitation. An invitation may be withdrawn, and an account may be closed, if it is used to attack the service or other people.

Acceptable use

Do not try to break the service, overload it, scrape it, reach other people’s data, or work around the limits of your plan. The card data and decklists are provided under the terms of their sources, which are credited on every page; do not redistribute them.

Your data

What you add — your collection, the decks you save or write — stays yours. Deckhand uses it only to answer your own questions in the app and never sells it or shares it. You can export it and you can delete it, from inside the app, at any time. The privacy policy is the full statement of what is stored and why.

One thing that page says and this one should not leave out: on a free account nobody has used for 30 days, the decks you have saved or marked as built may be removed. Using Deckhand resets that clock and you do not have to sign in again for it to count. Your collection and the decks you wrote yourself are never removed this way, paid accounts are never subject to it, and everything can be exported at any time.

Plans and payment

During the beta there is nothing to pay. When paid plans exist, they will cover the size of your own collection and the features around it — browsing cards and decks stays free and needs no account. A paid plan renews until you cancel it, which you can do at any time; cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the period already paid for. A collection larger than the free limit is never removed: every card in it stays yours to see, change, remove and export, and only adding new cards waits until it is under the limit again or the plan is raised. Prices are shown before you pay and can change with notice.

Prices and estimates

Every price in Deckhand is an estimate from a third-party market feed and some cards have none. It is there to give a sense of what finishing a deck costs, not as a quote, and Deckhand sells no cards. Prices are refreshed in batches rather than continuously, so every screen that shows one says how long ago that was. Read the date rather than assuming the figure is from today.

The service, as it is

Deckhand is provided “as is”, without a warranty of any kind. Decklists come from public sources and may be wrong or out of date; the scanner reads what it can see and asks when it is unsure, but it is software and it can make mistakes — check your collection. To the extent the law allows, Deckhand is not liable for any loss arising from using it, and in any case not for more than you paid for it in the previous twelve months.

Changes and ending

These terms may change; the date above says when. A material change will be announced in the app before it applies. You can stop using Deckhand and delete your account at any time. Deckhand may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and may end the service with reasonable notice, giving you time to export your data.
